Sara Wagner, MA, Advisory Council
Sara Wagner, MA is a passionate advocate for survivors of torture and asylum seekers. Sara started her career at the Boston Center for Refugee Health and Human Rights (BCRHHR), an organization that provides comprehensive care to survivors of torture. Her time at BCRHHR shaped who she is today, spring boarding her into her two current roles at the Libertas Center for Human Rights and Friends of Kisoro. Sara specializes in program, communications and data management and is on her way to becoming DOJ accredited as she has considerable knowledge of the U.S. Asylum Process. In her full-time role, Sara is the Program Coordinator at the Libertas Center for Human Rights, a program that serves survivors of torture in the New York City area. In her part-time role, Sara is the Communications Manager for Friends of Kisoro, a CBO providing psycho-social support to refugees in the UNHCR Nyakabande Transit Centre in Kisoro, Uganda.
Sara received her BA in Sociology and Legal Studies and her MA in Political Science with a concentration in Human Rights and International Relations from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. In her UMass Tenure, Sara was a Division 1 Track and Field athlete, specializing in the Hammer Throw.
