Meahgan Jameyson, NYC Junior Board
Current Employer & Position Title: Columbia University – The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions
Meahgan grew up in central Florida halfway between Tampa and Orlando. She graduated from Saint Leo University with a B.A. in Professional Writing and an M.S. in Human Services before moving to New York City in 2016. Her career started with teaching at-risk high school students in rural communities in Florida, and then moved into higher education admissions. She is currently the Assistant Director of Graduate Admissions for Columbia University’s Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science. She also created a non-profit website that provides resources for underserved and first generation high school students navigating the college search, application, and financial aid processes.
Through her work with these underserved student groups, Meahgan was also able to support asylum-seeking students. Their stories resonated with her, and so she sought out a way to help on a larger scale that extended beyond the school systems within her reach, and found AsylumConnect.
In her free time, Meahgan enjoys meditation, yoga, travel, and searching for the city’s best coffee.
