Mary (MO) Swinson, NYC Junior Board
Current Employer & Position Title: The Mount Sinai Hospital, Volunteer Program Coordinator
MO Swinson, LMSW, is a social worker who was born and raised in North Carolina. She attended Washington University in St. Louis where she served on the Student Executive Board of the Campus Y. After earning her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology she worked in a turnaround school as an AmeriCorps Corps Member in Boston. This year of service led her to enroll in graduate school at Columbia University School of Social Work. During one of her graduate field placements she interned at a drop-in center for LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness and saw how challenging it can be to locate safe and affirming services. Since graduation, she has worked at the Mount Sinai Hospital in the Department of Volunteer Services where she places students in research positions and supports program evaluation. In her spare time, she loves exploring National Parks, trying new craft projects, and baking nut-free desserts. She is excited to serve on AsylumConnect’s Junior Board.
