Donor Profile: Joe Summerill and Wes Bizzell
Meet the Summerill-Bizzell family!
This month, we would like to extend our deepest appreciation to our Washington, D.C. Fundraising Committee Co-Chair, Joe Summerill and his husband, Wes Bizzell, for their work on behalf of AsylumConnect. Their contribution allows us to add a new infographics feature to our resource catalog to further welcome LGBTQ asylum seekers to the U.S. Our infographics currently contain legal and local guidelines to help LGBTQ asylum seekers safely resettle and know their legal rights. In addition to their financial support, Joe and Wes are hosting a house party to benefit AsylumConnect this week.
Joe, Wes, and their son Jake are passionate about non-profit work, especially for LGBTQ adoption rights. Joe serves as the Board Chair of Adoptions Together and their family is a proud sponsor of The Heart Gallery, which connects eligible children from Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. to forever families. This work has special meaning for their family because Jake was adopted through the help of Adoptions Together.
The Summerill-Bizzell Family’s contribution to AsylumConnect helps lay the foundation for future life-saving work. As a nonprofit startup, AsylumConnect depends on the generosity of donors to continue fulfilling its mission of creating the first online resource database for LGBTQ asylum seekers. All donations to AsylumConnect are tax-deductible and help connect LGBTQ asylum seekers with safe resources upon arrival to the U.S.
From the entire AsylumConnect team: A big thank you to the Summerill-Bizzell family for their generosity!
