User Story of the Week – Meet Eric

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Meet Eric” font_container=”tag:h4|text_align:center|color:%234892da” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]“Eric” is a bisexual man who fled his home country in Asia after physical and verbal attacks due to his sexual orientation. Upon arrival in San Francisco, Eric applies for LGBTQ+ asylum in hopes of living authentically. However, due to the U.S. immigration case backlog of over 900,000 cases, Eric is told his asylum case may not be heard for months or even years. Eric hasn’t yet received his employment authorization document (EAD), which is required to legally work in the U.S., and has nowhere to go during this long wait. Eric’s attorney refers him to InReach so he can survive the lengthy asylum process. Eric uses InReach’s free app to find a local support group for Asian LGBTQ+ immigrants, free and confidential rapid HIV testing, emergency housing and a free English as a Second Language (ESL) class. Eric finally begins to feel at home.    [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”5501″ img_size=”full”][vc_cta h2=”Help welcome Eric home” txt_align=”center” color=”sky” add_button=”bottom” btn_title=”DONATE” btn_color=”sky” btn_align=”center” btn_button_block=”true” btn_link=”url:%2Fdonate|||”][/vc_cta][/vc_column][/vc_row]
